Flysurfer Unity and Flathead Fun

Yesterday was a truly glorious day of kiting on Flathead. Sun and smooth south wind all day. I started on the 12 meter speed and after a few big jumps I decided it might be windy enough to bust out the new 10 meter Flysurfer Unity. What a cool kite. It does not feel like the other Fysurfers I have flown. It kind of reminds me of a Fuel. It turns very quickly, and when combined with a solid edge set it rips you off the water. The hang time is not like it is with the speed kites, again more like the fuels. It is fast to redirect and land with power and speed. The kite water launches easily and the 5 th line safety works well. No tangles or spinning foil mess. I think it will be a great snow kite as well. Let me know if you want a demo.

After I wrapped up the morning session I headed to big fork and had some lunch. Dan and Bob came out for the afternoon session and we had a blast. Back on the 12 speed to me, 13 edge for bob, and a 14 rally for Dan. We rode well into the evening and all went home pretty whooped. It was one of those days I would of have wanted to be any place else. Sun, friends, smooth fresh water winds. It just doesn't get better.

Definetly nice riding with

Definetly nice riding with friends. We had 5 kiters out last weekend at Freezout.
Will have to come up for a visit soon and look for some of those big lake rollers on the north shore.

This is the only kite I want to try from flysurfer!

Tony,
I want to ride that 10m Unity. Looks like the closest thing they have to a typical LEI in shape and performance. I bet it is fun. Maybe I can make it up that way some south wind day! How is it for pull compared to your other 'surfers?

Hey Brian, It feels totally

Hey Brian,
It feels totally different than the other surfers. It almost feels like a C kite. Lots of bottom end and snap off the water. The speed kites build apparent wind and can fly very far into he window. Thus giving them great upwind ability and incredible floaty jumps. The unity stays back in the window in comparison. It is very quick turning and has that snappy feel when it rips you off the water. It does not have the glide of the speed but it still has some hangtime. The price point is also nice at about 1400 bucks for a 10 meter. Come and check it out.
